Applying for services

Applying for services

The provision of services for the elderly is preceded by an assessment of the need for services. Assessing the need for services means identifying the need for support and services for the elderly. The initiative to assess the need for services can come from the elderly themselves, their relatives or another person who knows their situation. Every citizen over the age of 75 has a statutory right to assess the need for services. During the corona period, a break is taken in urgent cases.

In assessing the need for services, the customer’s resources and operational capacity are mapped individually. The assessment is done by the social director and the responsible nurse. In addition to the customer, his or her relatives or a trustee appointed to him or her are often involved in the assessment. The assessment is usually done at the elderly person’s home. An assessment of the need for the service can be requested by telephone, fill in a written request or send an e-mail tuula.leino@kustavi.fi
